Want to get writing during this year’s York Literature Festival? Serious Flash Fiction is an annual twitter writing competition, open from the 2nd of March to 12th of April, challenging people to write a story in 269 characters.
The competition, edited by York Local Ben Warden, has been running for 5 years and the best entries are selected and published in a yearly anthology.
Ben will be appearing at York Literature Festival this year, running the Flash Fiction Workshop session on the 22nd of March.
For more information on the Serious Flash Fiction competition head to www.seriousflashfiction.weebly.com, or head straight to Twitter and enter using the hashtag #SFFiction.
If you’re interested in coming along to Ben’s workshop, here is a bit more information: the session will introduce the idea of ‘what makes a story’, briefly looking at storytelling through a screenwriting lens and then introduce you to flash fiction, as a way of practising and honing your craft. This is a light session, with an aim to get your inspiration flowing for new and developed writers. You can book now here: https://yorkliteraturefestival.co.uk/event/flash-fiction-workshop/
